An impressive transformation took place at 70 Principal in Granby: Turn a cantine into a wine bar that showcases fresh and local products.
The curved lines and rounded details, from the lobby and the dropped ceilings, were imagined to guide diners toward the heart of the restaurant where massive, enveloping booths invite an intimate experience – and soften the linear character of the rest of the space.
Another booth, this time along the length of the wall, journeys from the façade all the way through to the charcuterie cellar, responding to the to the kitchen that is mirrored along the other side of the restaurant. To balance out this horizontality, accentuated by the quilted cushions, a library interjects between the booth and the dropped ceiling and adds rhythm with various kitchen artifacts, jarred dry goods, books and plants. A familiar composition that evokes the confort of one’s living room.
Built on the open-kitchen concept, Arvida features two large countertops that lead one into another. One invites diners to get a first taste of new creations while they wait for their table. The other offers a prime seat for a full dining experience enhanced by the view of the kitchen crew at work. The new restaurant configuration is thus composed of three main environments where one can enjoy good food in good yet uniquely distinct ambiances. These environments forgive the scale of the space, offering plenty of opportunities for an abundant restaurant experience.
