Cidrerie Lacroix
By : SYSCOMAX - Jean-François Dupuis Architecte
GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN – 14th edition
Discipline : Construction & Real Estate Development
Categories : Construction / Commercial Construction : Platinum Winner
The story of the family-run Cidrerie Lacroix extends back nearly 150 years, and its commercial rise has been meteoric. A true flagship of the Lower Laurentians, the orchards had to revamp their installations to better reflect the company’s new brand image. With the preliminary concept by Sid Lee Architecture in hand, general contractor Syscomax began a major expansion on the current Saint-Joseph-du-Lac site. Part of the existing building was demolished to build a new state-of-the-art kitchen that not only makes it possible to develop refined culinary products, but to serve them to food-loving customers. The latter can enjoy the Cidrerie Lacroix orchard experience in a warm and modern dining room with high ceilings, where the culinary experience is enhanced by breathtaking views of the orchard. A new shop also allows visitors to explore apple products in a local ambience, since the raw material and labour are all in one place. The huge orchard of 7,000 apple trees with 20 different varieties is the site of a rustic-looking building that is anchored in today’s agribusiness reality.
