GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN 18th edition
Discipline : Construction & Real Estate : People's Choice Award
Categories : Construction / Prestige Construction : Silver certification
Categories : Construction / New Single-Family & Mutli-Unit Housing : Grand Winner
The home presented is a remarkable residence set on the grounds of a former lodge, a place steeped in history, enveloped by raw nature. Every design decision was guided by respect for the land, intelligent use of materials, and a desire to create a retreat that is both discreet and grand.
From the moment the journey to the property begins, the experience unfolds: several kilometers of forest paths immerse the visitor in deliberate isolation, almost meditative. This natural setting prepares for the encounter with a spectacular refuge, intimate and deeply rooted. A private gate, followed by a final kilometer, announces a preserved site: on the edge of a tranquil lake, with no neighbors on the horizon, the residence reveals itself — silent, confident, harmonious.
The exterior blends noble materials with natural tones, chosen to harmonize with the forest, water, and rock. The aesthetic, of serene rigor, reveals precise lines and masterful textures. Inside, cathedral ceilings soar, supported by massive Douglas fir beams treated with Shou Sugi Ban, a deep black finish evoking strength and warmth. The windows capture evolving light, unveiling new atmospheres with each passing hour.
The project was conceived to offer a balance of visual experience, functional comfort, and technical performance. Living spaces are open, fluid, organized around views, uses, and light. Custom oak cabinetry, integrated fireplaces, stairs, and recessed lighting reflect a meticulous attention to detail.
The house meets the highest standards of comfort, without compromising on technology or sensory experience. A centralized audio system is calibrated for various uses. Geothermal heating via radiant floors ensures even, gentle, and eco-friendly temperatures. Complete home automation allows remote control of lighting, blinds, sound, and security. Sensors detect anomalies such as water leaks, enhancing peace of mind.
The architect and clients opted for sustainable materials and solutions: metal roofing, Enviroshake shingles (95% recycled), underground gas generator, integrated cell amplifier, and optimized surveillance system. Landscaping by Dominique Bernier reflects this same philosophy: natural stone walls and stairs, organic pathways, carefully integrated lake access.
This achievement, our first new home signed by SIROY, was conceived with passion and executed with precision, reflecting our commitment to excellence. We are honored to have transformed our clients' vision into a place where architecture, nature, and innovation converge.
This project is more than a residence: it is an immersive experience, a living work of art, a dialogue between humanity and its environment.
