With sweeping views of the St. Lawrence River, the 3500sq ft unit is located on the top floor of a 25-year-old building located on Ile-de-Soeurs. The biggest challenge in updating the space was to maintain the architectural style of the building.
The new owners, who had left a single-family home, wished for everyone had to have their own quarters. Therefore, it was necessary to rethink both the initial dimensions and the purpose of each room to create a cohesive space.
By eliminating bulkheads of different heights and creating straight and clean lines, we managed to clearly delimit each area. By using proportions, volumes and angular shapes, each room in this open space area appears better defined according to function. A central home automation system has been installed to control this smart home and increase energy efficiency.
The noble materials used include wood, marble and full body porcelain stoneware, harmonized with chrome, mirror and glass to create an airy and luminous look. The guiding principle of this renovation is balance. A range of fabric textures complemented by various shades of gray were chosen to create a feeling of warmth in a modern, fashionable environment. Elegant curtains frame the windows, giving access to two large terraces with breathtaking views of the river and the new Pont Champlain Bridge.
