The Verrglass project
I was taught from a very young age to appreciate a job well done. My grandfather loved to make things, like toys for his grandchildren, or furniture, even rocking chairs, still in use after 70 years, defying the passage of time.
Later, I fell in love with crystal. I was fascinated by its transparency and the tricks it plays with light. As an architect, I went on to wonder if it might be possible to create geometric works with crystal. Surely I could use my knowledge of building geometry to make art out of this noble material.
After a long process of exploration and reflection, I found my answer: I wanted to design solid crystal objects that symbolized and embodied everything that touches our senses, rooted in clean, minimalist geometry. That idea would find expression in solid decorative vases, instilled with an ordered sense of movement—the triptychs by Verrglass Design.
My creations are designed to embellish everyday life and exploit the light-transforming potential of crystal in all its purity. Each piece is handcrafted, in a barium based (lead free) crystal, by the outstanding glass sculptors of the Czech Republic. Known worldwide for their exceptional skills, these kindred spirits have used their talent to bring my designs to life while showing deep respect for my creative process. The quality of their work is matched only by their commitment to excellence.
