Union sur le Parc is located in the Quartier des grands jardins in the heart of downtown Montreal. The project consists of two 20-storey residential towers located between two houses of heritage interest, at an angle with the Canadian Center for Architecture. The project offers contemporary architecture while highlighting the surrounding built heritage. This approach is based on the principles of unity, symmetry and tripartite composition to integrate in a sober and distinguished way into the landscape of large gardens. Through the repetition of simple opening modules, the facades on the city side present a monochrome and sober motif that provides a neutral background to the two adjoining houses. These facades constitute a backdrop avoiding competition with them. On the roof, the treatment is extended in arches to integrate the volume of the roof terraces, mechanical spaces and to articulate the crown of the tower. As the proximity between the two towers limits the supply of natural light between them, the architecture seeks to multiply and even provoke light reflections and thus to maximize the overall luminosity of these spaces. To do this, light masonry is used accompanied by metallic accents in warm tones. The two symmetrical towers thus take on a unified character, establishing themselves as an open volume and asserting themselves with distinction in the landscape.
