Located in the heart of the Mile End, across from the Saint-Enfant-Jésus-du-Mile End
church – a Montreal architectural gem of the last century – the building at 5002 St-
Laurent has been since 2019 Circonflex’s new headquarters. The building was given
a substantial facelift while keeping a close attention to reflecting this fashionable
neighborhood’s heritage and creative origins.
Completely renovated in 2017, this building was for a long time the home and creative
studio of the renowned and widely appreciated Quebec painter Lucio De Heusch,
whose paintings are part of major public and private collections in Quebec and Canada.
For Paul-Étienne Côté, founder and president of Circonflex, the unique emphasis on
conviviality within a creative space has helped define the design DNA of the studios.
The owner recently acquired one of De Heusch’s last paintings, which is permanently exhibited in the studio, thus tying in the building’s eras through art.
In an effort to pay tribute to the building’s past while transforming the place into cutting
edge sound studios, unmatched in Canada, Circonflex called upon award-winning
designer and Mile End native, Zébulon Perron. Perron’s atelier is known for its unique
signature, stemming from the development of restaurants and bars. This is a dimension
sought after in the sector in which Circonflex operates: the advertising industry. The
renovations’ main challenge was to combine professionalism, technology, relaxation,
and playfulness.
