An energizing event
Propulsion Québec, the intelligent and electric transport hub in Québec, held its international summit on electric and intelligent transport (EIT). This three-day event, which ran from March 13 to 15, 2023, at the Palais des congrès de Montréal, was designed for international audiences. The organization wanted to develop a distinctive visual identity for its event. The goal was for the conference to stand out and ensure meaningful participation. Organizers wanted to spur event registrations; the visual identity had to embody the industry’s versatility. The very name of the summit, “Impulsion,” had many meanings, all rooted in the concept of the movement. The event’s image had to highlight technological and human connectivity as well as the precision and cutting-edge aspects of the industry.
Propelled by design
The rounded logo illustrates the movement and connections between the letters. The movement coming from above is distinctively felt. The logo is unique without being completely misaligned with Propulsion Québec’s brand image.
The creation of Impulsion’s visual imagery was inspired by the path of progress, the journey of great ideas, and the future roads to conquer. An endless creative loop presents circular creativity. Shades within the colours of the parent brand, “Propulsion Québec,” brought depth and richness to the palette. The colours were saturated to add a lighter and livelier side. Gradients echo the ever-evolving technology of electric and smart transportation.
The lines, used as graphic elements for the event’s brand, traced the lines found in the engineering plans. They were superimposed with organic shapes to create eye-catching contrasts. The event’s imagery also included a texture to showcase ingenuity, which was very important to the designers.
By contributing to the summit’s success, we participated in the democratization of alternative modes of transportation, which benefit the economy and the environment. Impulsion’s DNA is the graphic representation of forward-thinking ideas that blend together, are shared, and move society forward.
The platform had to be adaptable for use in future summits with potentially different themes. The brand ecosystem, therefore, uses simple mechanisms that facilitate updating the imagery. With very short deadlines specific to a new and ever-evolving event, a wide range of communications material was produced, including on-site displays, web collateral, and promotional items.
