The refurbishment of the old Villasol Hotel and its transformation into the new Sentido Hotel inherently shows an intention of aesthetic fruition and, at the same time, it functions as an effective response by seeking the perfect balance between the interior and the surrounding, creating a whole that establishes an analogy between pre-existing elements and what is created, besides an intimate biunivocal dialectic relationship that connects form and function.
The newly-built envelope, made using pre-fabricated large-size concrete panels, was executed in record time by using the most novel technical advances that made it possible to reduce execution times.
As if it were a mollusc, which changes its shell as it grows and its needs vary, the old Villasol Hotel is coated with a limestone shell made of pre-fabricated concrete panels that envelop it, specialising according to external conditioning factors. To the south, the best orientation combined with the best views, the skin becomes permeable, turning into slight overhangs that control thermal gain and frame the visual gains. To the north, the area that is most committed in terms of energy and most affected by the noise pollution of the N-340, the shell hardens and becomes impenetrable, protecting the rooms and providing the whole with a new recognisable image facing the access avenue. The wavy shapes and curvilinear profile alleviate the cold biases, providing this architecture with a friendly, receptive and welcoming tone.
