The residence of Brome Lake is located on a relatively small lot facing the eponymous lake, in an area characterized by opulent two-story houses. The challenge was therefore to orient the house towards the sublime panorama of the lake without compromising the privacy of the occupants. The chosen strategy was to create a single story project unfolding into two wings linked by a majestic glass connexion. Composed of wood and stone walls, the Lac-Brome residence relies on the durability and nobility of natural materials in order to integrate in a refined, elegant and yet modest way into its environment.
At key moments, dazzling visual openings cross the house to project the gaze into the lake. Conversely, in the master suite, an inner garden encircles a tree, decontextualizing it like an object of art. Just like a museum tour would do it , the house unveils, emphasizes, accentuates or isolates elements of the surrounding landscape with accuracy and sensitivity. The significant involvement of clients early in the project made it possible to carry out programmatic and space studies ensuring that all areas are optimized, both from the point of view of their surface area, their use and there relative position to each other.
