Résidence Devon – Transformation cuisine

GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN – 14th edition
Discipline : Interior Design
Categories : Residence / Kitchen : Gold Certification
La brancoli design had the mandate to transform a kitchen of a prestigious house in Town of Mount Royal that no longer corresponded to the clients’ lifestyle. The clients like to invite friends and family at home and they frequently organize evenings and parties. La bancoli design’s challenge was to create a refined room despite its complexity without the possibility of major expansion and that would be composed of two spaces: a “service” section and a “reception” section. In order to separate those two sections, la brancoli design suggested two kitchen islands to optimize the space and make it welcoming.
The “service” section had to allow the meal preparation by cateres and facilitate wine tastings by sommeliers. An extended counter, a large custom-made wine cellar and a bar area were added to harmonize everything and create a restaurant atmosphere. The design had to incorporate two ovens and two sinks while hiding elements of a kitchen everyday life, by for example using retractable doors.
Noble, elegant and sober materials were used such as walnut, quartz, stainless steel, lacquered MDF cabinets all in order to respect the pre-existing materials and the rest of the house.
La brancoli design also proposed different lighting to create varied atmospheres. Finally, the clients wanted a mudroom at the kitchen’s entrance which was also done by transforming an old laundry room.
