The special thing about the Brodeur project is that from the moment someone walks through the door, their vision is immediately greeted by the kitchen. It sets the tone for the living space. So it was imperative that it invited and charmed with a Wow effect from the entrance! What helped create this dynamic effect was the atypical island adorned with its magnificent luminaires and ingenious screen. This large screen isn’t just a designer’s whim. It has two very specific functions! First, it hides forgotten dishes on the countertop, because as mentioned above, you can see everything from the entrance! Secondly, it serves as a receptacle to seat the dining room space, which has allowed it to be relocated to limit the loss of space at the living room level. Subsequently, all the other elements were grafted around the island with simplicity and softness (the lines of the integrated furniture, the discreet little handles). In order to continue this purity of space, a large, easily accessible ”secret” storage unit was added to hide the crockery and coffee machine. We also removed the existing window that was blocking us from the oven, and added one on either side of the cooking space. Finally we can’t pass over in silence the hotte and waxed concrete backsplash that perfectly complete the space.
