This residence on the shores of a lake in the Canadian Laurentians, quadruples its area thanks to the acquisition of the neighboring land. The 120-degree-oriented addition encourages the extension of nature inwards due to its location in the middle of the forest and opens onto the steep bank. As soon as you enter, a bar cabinet privatizes this space with large windows and cathedral ceilings. In that living area the lounge bar and library, custom-designed in teak, sit alongside the black and bleached ash kitchen and the oak furniture by the designer Luigi Gorgoni. The apparent architectural structure tinted with a rich brown supports a walkway with openwork railings. A graphic gesture, this same structure projects out onto the terrace. The multiple types of wood: fir, pine, oak, ash, cedar, teak harmonize in one place and connect humans to the deep nature of wood. In addition, the master suite located in the original building has a huge sliding teak wall. This delimits and intimates the linear bathroom with the breathtaking view of the lake. The judicious choice of materials and their colors created both the challenges and the success of this large-scale project.
