Winning project in the competition launched by the City of Beloeil for the development of a public space along the Richelieu River, in the heart of Old-Beloeil. The project carried out is a commemorative square to honor filmmaker, director and cinematographer Michel Brault, old resident of the city of Beloeil and recognized worldwide for his talents in cinema. The square is brought to life by a work of art designed by Version Paysage and made up of 3 luminous stainless steel frames, testifying to the evolution of cinematographic frames over time. A central mineral square is cut out by huge flower beds generously planted with multiple plant species punctuating the public space, and punctuated by original furniture developed by Version Paysage. The Michel-Brault plateau is a place where the landscape, the views, the spatial organization and the atmospheres allow visitors to enjoy a special experience all year round. The space is intended to be a gathering place offering a strong dialogue between an artistic work, the particular urban character of Old-Beloeil, the river and the mountain. The reflection of the relationship with the urban context of Old-Beloeil was an issue of the project.
Other important aspects of the project: Sustainable development, creation of an artistic work and custom furniture, integration into existing architecture and heritage conservation.
