The Marché Public de Sainte-Foy, for a long time installed in temporary seasonal fabric shelters, is confirming its belonging in the neighbourhood. What emerges from all the characteristics of the site is the notion of movement, which was the base point for the development of the architectural party. The movement initiated by the shape of the roof is accentuated by the extension of the extremity; the large overhangs give an impression of thinness and create a feeling of perpetual movement.
Glazed on all sides, the bright building puts forward a desire to animate this sector of the city. It offers, both for merchants and townspeople, a quality environment with atmospheres that evolve throughout the the day. In the evening, indirect lighting illuminates the wooden structure, which turns into an urban lantern.
The Market is positioned in lengthiness. The 12 entrances are positioned on all sides of the building to imply a smooth circulation and to bring a natural breeze through the stalls. Raw materials were favored for the realization of the project : wood, steel, glass and concrete. The distribution of services has been integrated into a light aluminum structure, designed to facilitate reorganization, which allows the stalls to be supplied with efficiency and discretion.
