Overlooking lake Manitou in Ivry-sur-le-Lac, this secondary residence sets the scene for dreams and contemplation. Designed by its owner, Canadian architect Richard Rubin, the home is composed of five superimposed modules each measuring 15 meters long. The modular design stands out by its pure beauty and blends itself in the wooded decor thanks to the cedar slats of trellis and the genuine wooden shingles used on the superior and inferior modules. The choice of an opaque black façade for the center module adds distinction and elegance all the while giving the home an artistic flair.
The home’s interior presents a harmonious mix of genres, oscillating between textured concrete floors and birch slats, which gives softness and brightness to the space. The owners wish to commune with nature is beautified through the warmth and enveloping nature of the wood floors and wood ceiling in the 3-season canopy. The perfectly placed windows allow your eye to glance at a variety of scenes such as, parcels of the garden, the Laurentian forest, bustling fauna, Lake Manitou and its myriad of tints. The home was conceptualised to leave a quasi non-existent ecological footprint for which LEED GOLD certification is targeted.
