The Simone Veil High School at LIFFRE is a general and technological educational institution that can accommodate 1,200 students and is extendable to 1,500 students. It consists of nine buildings arranged in U, like a university campus, to highlight, in the center, a landscape wellness area for high school students. To preserve the natural elevation of the land, this park is landscaped in mineral and vegetable terraces supported by concrete curbs offering multiple seats to users. This development promotes the reception of biodiversity, participates in the management of stormwater and thermal regulation. In addition to the terraces, valleys planted with riverbank plants, receive stormwater runoff to accompany them towards a landscaped control basin to the west of the plot. This landscape composition also recalls the vegetal and wooded fabric of the Liffré forest. The architects honored the biosourced wood material at the Simone Veil high school. The wood is present structurally with the pebble, the framework of the large reception hall composed of trellis beams, the imposing beams in glulam-laminated wood in the restoration rooms or the floors of the buildings built in walls frame wood and CLT floor. This feeling of warmth brought by the wood and its smell bring a comfort of life to the students and teachers.
