Le campus Simons

GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN – 14th edition
Discipline : Urban Design, Landscape Architecture & Landscaping
Categories : Landscape Architecture / Commercial Landscape Architecture : Platinum Winner
Campus Simons, constructed on a lot measuring over 2 million square feet in the Espace d’innovation Chauveau industrial park in Québec City, was designed to bring nature and architecture together. BC2’s landscape architects demonstrated precision, creativity and flexibility when considering the site’s specific characteristics.
An integrated approach with sustainable development in mind was used in the landscaping of Campus Simons in order to reconcile the green spaces and recreational areas with the primary operations of the distribution centre. Outside, a large patio offers employees a leisure area with a southern exposure in which to relax. Walking trails and footpaths provide opportunities for walking amongst the buildings, and the carefully arranged vegetation re-establishes its place in nature.
Inside, a lush garden graces the huge reception hall, prioritizing and animating the space. At the same time, it forms a cohesive link between the exterior and interior spaces.
BC2’s mission was to reflect the corporate identity of Maison Simons throughout this mandate by incorporating the principles for sustainable development, comfort and consideration for the wellbeing of employees, and by optimizing the site’s primary operations. Given the project’s success at the MIPIM Awards 2020 this past September, these challenges have been met.
