The Landau Display Design for Ceratec
Designer Anne Côté, working with COPP Marketing + Design, was given the mandate to redesign existing displays for Ceratec Surfaces, a Canadian ceramics company that produces and distributes ceramics for the past 70 years.
Anne is pleased to present one of those displays named Landau for the consideration of the Grand Prix as it stands out in a crowd. Anne took this design opportunity to position Ceratec as a leader with the next generation of uniquely designed displays.
Anne’s experience in set design (Cirque du Soleil) called for materials not often used in the tile display world. Laminated pressed wood, the common material used throughout the industry, had limitations to durability and also for the design refinement. A new material was needed to convey the design’s precise arabesques.
The Landau display was built with powder coated metal using laser cutting to introduce curved shapes. The goal was to support a curvilinear design never seen in the square and sharp angles of the cold and heavy environment of tile displays.
Anne’s team assured all engineering metrics and functionality requests. Retailers are excited to have this new Landau to differentiate themselves from the competition. Unanimous positive customer respond shows how much (good) Design can uplift the look of any Industry.
