Ichigo Ichie Izakaya is a project in the Plateau whose goal is to transport clients to Japan. With no street sign a low key traditional red lantern over the door is all that hints of the surprise to be discovered inside. Ichigo is a respite from reality using wood to add warmth and put customers at ease. The frosted glass windows add to the mystery and anticipation of the design inside. The maze-like layout with multiple rooms and levels add to the curiosity of visitors as they discover the restaurant and the various murals throughout.
With his flare for drama and ability to astonish Michel Prete has created an modern institution and a favorite destination in Montreal.
