In Montreal Canada, this renovation of a kitchen in a 50s concrete suburban home is impressive, especially by the unveiling of the original full height windows. The intention to maximize the space without denaturing it is created by the opening of the dining room and the connection of the table to the island. This strong line is accentuated by its matt black finish. In contrast, the white section and the figured wood reinforce this initiative and define the functional areas of activity: on one side the preparation, on the other, cooking and cleaning, and on the front, the consumables. Made of lemonwood, an exotic Cuban wood reclaimed from the 90s, this wall-to-wall cabinet is mounted in juxtaposed panels exposing the grain in a palm tree pattern. Suspended above the hob, the architectural frame incorporates lighting and ventilation. Well thought, the utilitarian light sources are grouped by sector and create different atmospheres. The sober and technological materials, like the ultra-compact quartz capable of withstanding intense heat up to 356 degrees Fahrenheits, come to life thanks to the users. Finally, the framing of an oversized photo, taken during a trip to Spain, brings together all the textures and colors of this kitchen recalling past good times and inspiring those to come.
