African Soul Food is the fusion between Africa and the Americas. It is a friendly, warm, spacious and innovative boutique where you can mainly find food products from the African continent and the Caribbean islands. Its interior layout is designed to allow future customers from various backgrounds to travel through discovery, tasting, education as well as through sharing art and unique accessories that reflect the culture of both regions.
Strictly following both the specifications set by our client and his vision for the boutique, we proposed a pared-down design that showcases the products on offer. The flow of the space is arranged around four distinct services: the food area for buying groceries, the café space where customers can enjoy ready-to-eat meals on-site at their leisure, the cosmetics area and, to complete the customer experience, the space for cultural accessories. All favoring an ambiance where circulation is fluid, dynamic and serene throughout.
Raw material such as the wood used to build the gondolas and movable display cases as well as concrete, are a nod to the natural ingredients often used in African and Caribbean recipes.
The no less exciting creative challenge was to present and design, on the same directive line, furniture for unconventional food products. The simplicity in the choice of colors for the furniture made it possible to create contrast while maintaining a décor that is both chic and accessible to all.
