NEUF50 Cocktail Reception
For its 50th anniversary, NEUF turned the spotlight on a half-century of projects and collaborations with 12 months of celebrations, events, and sponsorships. A retrospective publication, a dedicated web page, press articles, academic scholarships, promotional items, awards and donations were featured on social networks and specialized platforms. The culmination of festivities was an evening held in the atrium of Maison Alcan on November 24 2022 to present the publication to an exceptional gathering of Quebec’s real estate and construction industry, friends and family. Some 750 guests from the firm’s clients and colleagues gathered in this storied space, which recently underwent an important rehabilitation on which NEUF collaborated. The evening was filled with testimonials, reunions and the unveiling of a sculpture made from hundreds of copies of the book, and will remain a memorable event in the firm’s history.
Primary challenges of organizing the NEUF50 event included:
- Maintaining cohesion across a variety of communication media (online and print, videos, installations and a lighting programme)
- Complying with the firm’s graphic standards while simultaneously expressing the exceptional nature of the event
- Maintaining a circulation flow while keeping a warm ‘’family gathering’’ greeting for the 750 guests crossing the red carpet ;
- Foster the sense of belonging of the company’s ambassadors, old and new, through an internal campaign before the event and by wearing of a pin during the cocktail event ;
- The impressive weight of the final book structure considering each book weighs 6.2lbs, and the fact they are all white made it quite a feat to install.
The anniversary logo, created for the 50th anniversary of NEUF architect(e)s, reflects the firm’s graphic standards, which in turn draw inspiration from the architectural sphere. The number 50 is added to the 4 letters N-E-U-F and rendered in the firm’s two official colours: Pantone 485C red and Pantone 3125C blue. The new logo was used for a year in all the firm’s online communications and media, as well as on its promotional products. The logo represents a proud moment in the history of the organization, and the evolution of its visual identity shows traces of that history. For the event, a custom lighting design highlighted the marquise of Maison Alcan as well as the interior of the atrium. A jazz band animated the evening during the service of two cocktails specially designed for NEUF by the Béatrice: the 485U cocktail (red) and the 3125U mocktail (blue). Sets of 50 postcards of the firm’s projects and archives were scattered throughout the room.
A retrospective book, “Un demi-siècle et toujours NEUF / Half a Century of Building Storeys”, was published for the firm’s 50th anniversary. This imposing tome (26.6 x 21.8 x 5.4 cm) comprises 600 pages of bilingual texts as well as images of the past and the future, all demonstrating the diversity of the firm’s completed projects across Canada, the Americas, in Europe and in Asia. Archives, photographs, anecdotes and interviews retrace the evolution of the organization in parallel with the development of Montreal’s built landscape. This publication was unveiled to the public during the NEUF50 cocktail event and gifted to clients and colleagues in an anniversary tote bag at the end of the cocktail event.
