GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN – 14th edition
Discipline : Architecture
Categories : Public Building / Urban Building : Bronze Certification
Inaugurated in 2020 as part of the 75th anniversary of the Caisse Desjardins de Sillery-Saint-Louis-de-France, the lookout is part of the Côte de Sillery redevelopment, which is part of the more global project of the Samuel-De Champlain promenade phase 3 in Quebec City.
The project as started with the desire to offer passers-by a breathtaking view of the Saint Lawrence River. The lookout is an elegant cantilever platform where successive arches frame the view and amplify the perspective effect. The ultra-clear glass railing, without any trim, gives an intangible aspect to the whole, thus enhancing the view towards the river. The constant effort to optimize the dimensions of the structure also contributes to the dizzying nature of the experience, which however remains completely safe for the user.
