GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN – 14th edition
Discipline : Interior Design
Categories : Office / Office: Professional & Financial Service Firm : Bronze Certification
Naturehumaine's new offices are located at the corner of Gilford Street, in the square left by Mr. Jiji, the emblematic shoemaker of the neighborhood.
The project restores the soul of a century-old building while adding a contemporary touch.
On the first floor is the main work area and meeting room. The basement becomes a kitchen, dining room and material library space.
The former interior courtyard becomes the main entrance to the office acting as a transition threshold to the entrance to the workspace. The entrance also integrates shelves used to display models. The meeting room is concealed by a striated glass transom, creating a play of light and movement.
Under the south-facing corner window a glass floor allows light to pass through to the basement.
The structure of the building is characterized by two columns painted in the Baltic blue (2059-50) chosen by the former occupant of the building.
A screen of wood and felt strips between the two rows of desks aims to improve the acoustics of the space.
The custom-made furniture is an opportunity for conceptual exploration.
The materials used constitute a minimalist palette compiling the favourite materials of naturehumaine; wood, mosaic, concrete floors, textured glass and steel. The whole concept creates a work atmosphere conducive to concentration and creativity.
