Located in the heart of the city, the 1 Square Phillips project, tallest residential tower in Montreal, entrusted by the Brivia Group to MSDL Architects, begins its journey to the clouds. At 61 storeys, this glass tower will blend seamlessly into the landscape of downtown Montreal and enjoy spectacular views of the river, the mountains and Greater Montreal, from a higher point than the Mount Royal lookout.
Lavish and refined, the intimate feel of the lobby at 1 Square Phillips is a result of the inspired design by Sabrina Lareau of MSDL Architectes and Alain Desgagné of Innédesign. They pay a tribute to the Art Nouveau era of the late 19th century, incorporating curved shapes and fabrics such as wood and stone, tweed and velvet. On the 50th floor, the lounge and terrace will offer spectacular vistas perched above the hustle and bustle of the city.
The bold layout of the interior garden leading to the buildings, designed by Claude Cormier – famous Montreal landscape architect, also reflects the ambition of the project. As soon as the main gate is crossed, 1 Square Phillips departs from urban activity by revealing a very private sanctuary featuring original elements. On the ground, the Prince of Wales fabric pattern is reproduced on pavement, an elegant nod to King Edward VII who popularized it in the 19th century. Evergreens planted in three oversized bonsai pots set the scene in its center.
