90% of our lives take place indoors, and the World Health Organization warns that nearly 30% of buildings are “sick,” worsening a global crisis of physical and mental health.
Architecture is not neutral. It can heal or harm.
This was the starting point of our research. As architects and interior designers, we began to ask the following:
What if we designed spaces by truly understanding the human brain?
Today, we know that well-being is not random. It is shaped by measurable neurodesign variables:
☀️ Lighting regulates sleep, hormones, and productivity
🌬️ Air improves clarity and performance
🔊 Acoustics reduces stress and enhances concentration
🎨 Color influences emotions and behavior
📐 Form and proportion shape perception and movement
🌿 Biophilia connects humans with nature
👥 Social dynamics balance interaction and privacy
🪵 Materiality triggers sensory and emotional responses
These are not aesthetic choices. They are neurobiological variables that directly impact the brain, the nervous system, and quality of life.
Based on this evidence, we developed the ZION Methodology: a system to diagnose spaces, detect invisible problems, and design solutions grounded in neuroscience.
More importantly, we translate science into design decisions, turning research into spatial strategies that improve how people live—because that is the true purpose of design.
According to the Academy of Neuroscience for Architecture and the World Health Organization, applying these design principles across different environments leads to measurable impact:
+43% creativity (education)
+25% recovery (healthcare)
−25% anxiety and depression (housing)
+50% well-being (urban scale)
We understood something critical: this knowledge must scale.
This led to the creation of the ZION Institute for NeuroDesign, a global platform that trains professionals and certifies spaces under a new standard:
ZION NeuroCertified Spaces™
We designed the first diploma in neurourbanism with the "Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México." We have also collaborated with other universities to educate the next generation of designers.
Our methodology is structured around four pillars:
Z — Zones: understanding human experience in space
I — Investigation: applying neuroscience to design
O — Optimization: diagnosing and improving through evidence
N — Neurodesign: creating spaces that promote well-being
We are humans designing for humans.
In an AI-driven era, our advantage is not only optimization, it is the ability to feel, perceive, and design experiences that transform lives.
We train professionals to go beyond traditional design grounded in science and focused on impact.
Our programs are delivered globally, online, in English, French, and Spanish.
Because transforming architecture means transforming how we live. What if global change began with the spaces we inhabit?
