The Wang Yangming Memorial Hall is located in Yuyao, with "The Light of Mind Learning" as its core design concept. It integrates regional characteristics and historical depth to create an exhibition space that combines cultural richness with modern experience. The total area is 2,830 square meters, featuring three exhibition halls, one preface hall, and one transitional space, all connected by a linear flow.
The design draws on the traditional Yuyao architectural element of "upturned eaves" and incorporates natural imagery such as rocks and water features to create an elegant Jiangnan atmosphere. It also references the calligraphic textures from Wang Yangming's poetry, Ming-style furniture, and traditional color schemes to recreate the context of the Ming Dynasty. The accurate replication of figures' costumes and expressions further enhances the sense of historical authenticity.
"Light" is used as the spiritual core, symbolizing the awakening, introspection, and dissemination of Mind Learning through "morning light, moonlight, and dawn light." The design of light and shadow is integrated into the museum logo, titles, and spatial atmosphere. At the entrance, a focused beam of light creates a "clear mind" experience, while the exhibition halls feature clear and translucent light and shadow effects.
In terms of spatial layout, the preface hall opens with "light." The first exhibition hall (2,058 square meters) is divided into seven units to display Wang Yangming's life and thoughts, combining scene restoration with multimedia technology. The second exhibition hall (255 square meters) focuses on the spread and influence of Mind Learning. The third exhibition hall (180 square meters) is designed for study tours and interactive experiences. The public area includes a cultural and creative store, a storage area, and other facilities.
Overall, an "identifiable" system is constructed through large, medium, and small scenes and multimedia touchpoints. This system achieves an organic integration of historical narrative and modern exhibition, conveying the core idea of "the brightness of the mind."
