For over 100 years, Collège Saint-Sacrement has held a prominent place in academic development within Quebec's private secondary schools. Founded in 1902 in Vieux-Terrebonne, following the purchase of Manoir Masson by the Fathers of the Blessed Sacrament, the institution now welcomes more than 1600 students per year.
This sustained growth has led to the creation of new sports facilities. In 2022, following an invitation-only call for tenders, TLA Architects was entrusted with the design of a multifunctional soccerplex that meets both the needs of the College and the physical constraints of the site.
Occupying 3350 m² of ground space for a total of 5150 m² of flooring, the Soccerplex is an iconic place dedicated to performance and collective identity. Its synthetic field of 35 × 56 meters, divisible by a curtain, is perfectly suited for 9-player soccer. Accessible by an underground tunnel connected to the main pavilion, the level also includes four multifunctional locker rooms, an overflow area bathed in natural light, and integrated linear lighting.
The main floor houses the new facilities for the football teams: spacious locker rooms, offices for coaches and therapists, a promenade offering an unobstructed view of the field, and a tribute wall highlighting the College's alumni. On the upper floor, a training gym adjoins a suspended track of over 300 meters with a double corridor, along an impressive fenestration that opens onto a green roof. This pathway, punctuated with archival images, leads to a multifunctional room and a terrace overlooking the outdoor field.
The project aims to encourage spontaneous exchanges through a series of welcoming waiting areas. It also reinforces the sense of belonging by anchoring the College's identity in the design: integration of team logos, historical murals, overlays of old and contemporary images create a constant dialogue between past and present. The predominance of white, wood, and concrete serves as a neutral canvas to highlight the College's emblematic colors, red and blue.
Around the track, slats tell two symbolic stories: one blue, the other red, according to the direction of the race. Spaces designed to promote personal expression allow users to leave a lasting impression, thus encouraging self-affirmation in a collective setting.
The interior design concept revolves around the institution's identity color palette. It visually transposes sports strategies, often represented by X's and O's, into a dynamic lighting system. The TLA Architects team focused on wood as a warm and durable accent material, while developing unique signage inspired by the geometry of a soccer ball.
