A sensitive reinterpretation of an iconic address
Tucked in the heart of the vibrant Petite Bourgogne neighborhood in Montreal, Joe Beef has established itself since 2005 as a must-visit address, emblematic of a certain Montreal lifestyle. Deeply rooted in local and international culture, this institution on Notre-Dame street embodies a unique vision of gastronomy: raw, generous, uncompromising.
We had the privilege of intervening in this popular place to breathe new life into it, while deeply respecting its essence, because here, every corner carries the memory of a living story.
A tribute to the original identity
Preserving the DNA of the restaurant was an obvious choice. Several elements of the original design were carefully preserved: the distinct floral wallpaper of the "Big Beef", the burgundy shade of "Little Beef", as well as a collection of artworks and found objects, amassed over the years by the owners — true guardians of the soul of the place.
An atmosphere designed as a lived-in space
Our approach was decidedly residential, with every detail designed to evoke a sense of intimacy, almost domestic. The experience is thus enriched: it becomes more personal, like an extension of one's own home. This sensibility enhances the warm and authentic atmosphere of JB, a place in perpetual evolution, but deeply true to its free, welcoming, and human spirit.
