The Montrose project consists of the major transformation and expansion of a private residence located in Westmount. Executed through a turnkey approach, the mandate included complete architectural and interior design services, from conceptual development through final delivery. Conceived as a refined contemporary residence, the project sought to create an environment that is timeless, warm, and deeply cohesive, where each space exists in dialogue with the whole through a carefully articulated architectural continuity.
Spanning over 7,000 square feet across five levels, the residence required a complete reconfiguration of the existing structure. Delivered within an ambitious 15-month timeline, the intervention included the reconstruction of all interior systems, the replacement of all flooring, and a major structural undertaking that enabled the integration of a gym beneath the existing garage. The floor plan was entirely reimagined to maximize natural light and establish stronger visual connections throughout the residence. The main staircase was redesigned to unify the four levels of the home, replacing two separate staircases resulting in a more fluid and coherent circulation experience.
The design language draws inspiration from the intimate atmosphere of boutique hotels, embracing a discreet and timeless elegance expressed through materiality and precision of details. A nuanced palette of greige, warm beige, pale wood, and soft off-white tones creates a serene and enveloping atmosphere enhanced by abundant natural light and carefully integrated architectural lighting.
The project is distinguished by its strong formal and material coherence. Each intervention was conceived through a careful balance of functionality, restraint, and refinement. Integrated storage solutions preserve the purity of the architectural volumes while emphasizing the natural materials used throughout the residence.
The kitchen stands as one of the defining elements of the project. Designed as an open and luminous environment, the space is characterized by softness, fluidity, and sculptural simplicity. A rounded monolithic island acts as both focal point and gathering space, while concealed preparation and storage areas maintain the minimalist composition.
The primary suite continues this pursuit of comfort and refinement. Defined by an arched ceiling, the space conveys intimacy and serenity. In the primary bathroom, travertine, pale wood, and matte bronze fixtures evoke the atmosphere of a contemporary wellness retreat. Bathed in natural light, the space offers a calm and immersive sensory experience where every detail contributes to the overall harmony of the residence.
Through the Montrose project, the intervention proposes a refined vision of contemporary high-end residential living, distinguished by the coherence of its architectural language, the rigor of its execution, and the meticulous attention devoted to every detail.
