A first pedestrian tunnel in Laval now connects Espace Montmorency to the Montreal metro
MONTONI, in partnership with the Fonds immobilier de solidarité FTQ, Montez Corporation, and Sid Lee Architecture, has inaugurated the brand new pedestrian tunnel at Espace Montmorency — a direct connection to the Montreal metro network. This is the very first underground passage of its kind in Laval, resulting from a close collaboration with the City of Laval and the Montreal Transit Corporation (STM). This strategic link aligns perfectly with the TOD (Transit-Oriented Development) vision that guided the design of Espace Montmorency.
Espace Montmorency is the first project to achieve the LEED v4 ND Gold certification for neighborhood development. It also holds LEED Platinum and Gold certifications for the envelope and core of its buildings. With more than 700 rental residential units, a Courtyard by Marriott hotel with 188 rooms, and over 500,000 square feet of office and commercial space, this significant complex transforms the urban experience in Laval. It focuses on strong human connections and an integrated energy system that promotes optimal resource management.
Located on a plot of 318,000 square feet — formerly vacant — between de Souvenir and de la Concorde West boulevards, to the east of the Laurentides highway, Espace Montmorency benefits from a strategic location. Close to Place Bell, the metro, and Montmorency station, as well as the university campuses of the University of Montreal, UQAM, and Montmorency College, the project offers a unique opportunity to build a multifunctional development rooted in sustainable mobility.
The ambition of this project: to create a complete living environment, where functions coexist harmoniously, and access to public transport is optimized. The result: smoother movement, an enriched experience for users, and an exemplary model of eco-responsible urban development.
