Rooted in the spectacular landscape of Lac du Nord, in Estérel, this residence unfolds as a sensitive response to its owners’ desire: to fully inhabit the lakefront experience. The architecture opens generously toward the horizon, multiplying framed views and visual connections to bring natural light and the reflections of the water into the heart of the living spaces.
Inspired by Californian aesthetics, the home embraces a refined architectural language where clean lines meet warm materiality. The horizontal volumes extend lightly across the site, creating a seamless continuity between interior and exterior spaces, while expansive openings blur the boundaries between landscape and architecture.
Particular attention was given to the sensory experience of the home, especially its acoustics, a central element for the owner, a pianist. The spaces were carefully designed to provide an enveloping sound quality where music can resonate naturally, without compromising everyday comfort.
The material palette, both restrained and rich, combines natural wood in beige and black tones with a grey silica stone. Its raw texture contrasts with the precision of its rectilinear cuts, creating a subtle balance between rusticity and refinement. A standing seam metal roof, durable and timeless, quietly unifies the composition. In keeping with the project’s focus on sustainability and performance, the residence also integrates a geothermal system, reducing its energy footprint while ensuring optimal comfort throughout the seasons.
The result of a close collaboration between the architect, designer Jacinthe Leblanc of Style2, and general contractor Lalonde & Fils, the project reflects an integrated vision in which every detail contributes to a coherent whole. More than a residence, this home is a setting for the landscape, an architecture shaped by light, music, and daily living.
