The Club de golf Laval-sur-le-Lac is rooted in a tradition of excellence that has endured through time with rare elegance. The clubhouse redesign project was guided by a fundamental intention: to preserve the soul of the space while allowing it to evolve. The objective was not to impose a new design language, but rather to reveal, with coherence and depth, what was already inherently present. The challenge lay in achieving a delicate balance between preservation and enhancement, between honoring the past and adapting to present-day needs.
The project’s guiding vision is based on a thoughtful interpretation of the traditional codes associated with private Scottish golf clubs. As such, the selection of materials became an obvious choice. Natural materials occupy a central role, valued both for their warmth and their ability to stand the test of time. Noble materials were prioritized for their authenticity and durability. Stone, rich textiles, and high-quality finishes contribute to creating an atmosphere that is intimate, welcoming, and undeniably refined. The color palette, inspired by neutral tones, echoes the surrounding landscapes and establishes a subtle connection between interior and exterior spaces. The carpets, entirely custom-designed, extend this intention by evoking at times the movement of clouds across the sky, and at others the rhythm of waves upon the sand.
The organization of the spaces was reimagined to foster a fluid and cohesive experience for members. The locker rooms, pro shop, and Café Jules Huot fully embody this approach. Each area was conceived as a place of retreat, where comfort, functionality, and refinement coexist naturally. The lines are understated, the proportions balanced. Lighting also plays a fundamental role in shaping the perception of the spaces. Soft light sources contribute to establishing a calm, intimate, and soothing ambiance.
Particular attention was devoted to the details, which serve as true markers of the project’s quality. The custom double-sided fireplace stands as a central feature: monumental in scale, it structures the living spaces. On one side, its natural stone mantel asserts a strong and timeless presence. On the other, an equally majestic treatment is expressed through imposing wrought-iron doors.
This redesign work has strengthened the identity of the clubhouse by bringing renewed coherence to the space. Far removed from fleeting trends, the project embraces a timeless approach. The clubhouse redesign does not seek reinvention, but rather the revelation of what defines its identity. Today, the clubhouse is not merely a functional space; it is the continuation of a story, the reflection of a legacy, and the expression of a certain art of living. This clubhouse speaks to a discerning clientele, one that values quality and a refined sense of discretion.
