LA VIE EN VERT
Welcoming and pleasant to live in, this home located in Québec is owned by people who appreciate peace and quiet and beauty. They are both very welcoming and discreet. They wanted to increase their privacy while maintaining an inviting home. As lovers of vegetation and trees, we worked with the existing mature trees, which blended in well.
Conifers, deciduous trees, and perennials were chosen to create movement and ensure the appearance of the house's facade remains interesting while increasing the residents' privacy.
The existing parking lot took up a lot of space, making it difficult to move around and obscuring the view of the residence. We proposed shortening the length of the low garden wall and removing the driveway to make way for planting and a pedestrian walkway. This would add depth to the lot by setting the residence back from the road.
We believe the design and execution of this development is exceptional because it allows people to live in perfect balance by having an inviting house facade and maintaining their privacy without barricading themselves, and by integrating parking.
Plants take center stage in this project with skillful interplay of volumes. Annuals, perennials, various types of grasses, trees and shrubs form a lush canvas, soothing both body and mind. Plants of various and colors and shades coexist—the invigorating green of the walnut trees, the icy green of the "Baby Blue Eyes" spruce, the deep red of the cannas, the pale green of the "Sun King" aralias, the pink, the white, and the purple—it's a true painting in itself!
A long, inviting slate path lined with vegetation welcomes visitors and directs them to the entrance of the home. The abundant nature allows residents to enjoy a much appreciated privacy.
The abundant nature that adorns the facade of this charming house creates a cocoon of intimacy for the occupants, offering them a feeling of peace on a daily basis.
