Located in the heart of the historic village of Saint-Émilion, the Hôtel de Pavie wanted to evolve its rooms from the Village House to a more contemporary expression of luxury, while preserving its heritage identity. The project consisted of fully renovating the rooms, asserting a warm aesthetic, rooted in the place and designed to enhance the hotel experience.
The main challenge was to create spaces that are both immersive, elegant, and respectful of the existing architecture. Original elements – stone walls, old beams – were restored and integrated into a new composition that combines tradition and modernity. The approach is based on highlighting volumes and the rigorous selection of noble materials, offering each guest a feeling of intimacy and serenity.
The color palette is directly inspired by the local landscape: the midnight blue of summer skies, the ochres and terracotta of wine-growing soils, the soft golds evoking the hues of wine and stone. These colors bring warmth and depth to the rooms while creating a visual continuity across the spaces.
Special attention was given to materials and textures: velvet curtains, upholstered headboards, woven carpets, walls dressed in fabrics or textured wallpapers. Every detail was designed to offer comfort that is both tactile and acoustic. The custom-designed furniture structures the space with sleek lines and precious finishes. The pieces are made in France, in collaboration with EPV-labeled art workshops.
The lighting was designed as a staging tool: discreet during the day, it becomes more intimate in the evening thanks to custom-made light fittings, combining aesthetics and functionality. Indirect lighting effects highlight the volumes, enhance depth, and foster a soothing ambiance.
Finally, the spatial arrangement was optimized to enhance habitability and comfort: headboards with integrated reading lights, discreet storage, additional seating, fluid circulation. The whole composes rooms that are both elegant, practical, and sensitive.
This renovation aims to extend the story of the place while offering a contemporary interpretation of French refinement. It conveys a vision of luxury that is discreet, sensory, and sincerely connected to its territory.
