The Grey Algarve project is a complete restructuring of a charming house in Montreal. Apart from the fireplace radiators and the staircase, the entire house has been restructured. The structure, floors, interior system, wall partitions, coatings, and all the wood and steel furniture were custom made.
The project is both minimalist and humble in approach but aims to be striking. We selected a very distinctive entryway floor. The curves of the house respond to one another from one perspective to another. All the finishes are natural: stone, Taj Mahal marble, oak wood crafted in chevron form, and solid panels delicately cover the space. All lighting fixtures are integrated into the custom cabinetry. Circulation has been completely redesigned to create smooth and pleasant spaces. Detail insertions were done with care. The doors and windows are inspired by the New York-style grid.
All the materials, furniture, and accessories were locally made.
The kitchen was thoughtfully designed and optimized for the client, who is the daughter of cooks. The gas cooking appliances are intended to be high-performance. The lime chimney complies with fire propagation standards. The panel stains were carefully made to align the finishes with a caramel shade. The Taj Mahal countertop and backsplash were cut with precision. The handles were custom made to fully integrate into the horizontal lines.
