Perched on a hillside overlooking the cross-country ski trails of Morin-Heights, Falls asserts itself as a bold architectural statement. Anchored directly into the rock and supported by over 30 tons of steel, the residence appears to hover above the terrain, extending toward the canopy of surrounding maple trees.

Its restrained footprint contrasts deliberately with its striking elevation. The composition balances solidity and lightness: while structurally robust, the volumes unfold with an unexpected sense of suspension. The flat and gently sloped rooflines enhance the horizontality of the design, reinforcing its dialogue with the natural landscape.

Light is the project’s primary material. Expansive openings, strategic glazing, and carefully studied orientations allow daylight to penetrate deep into the interior, creating a continuous visual and spatial connection with the forest. The house is conceived from the inside out — each volume shaped by interior perspectives, movement, and framed views. This approach generates fluid transitions between spaces and establishes a living environment that feels open, breathable, and immersive.

Materiality plays a central role in reinforcing this continuity. Finishes selected for their authenticity and durability extend seamlessly from the interior to the exterior envelope, dissolving conventional boundaries. Natural stone, applied selectively on architectural partitions, punctuates the composition and adds texture and depth, enhancing the tactile experience of the space.

Falls embodies a refined equilibrium between structural strength and architectural purity. Contemporary in expression yet timeless in its material language, the residence stands as a sculptural presence within the forest — shaped by light, grounded in rock, and elevated by design.
