Good evening!
It is currently 8:07 PM on May 27, 2026.
I'm last minute.
I have two options:
1. Put my photos into ChatGPT and ask it to make perfect documents.
2. Write the truth
I chose to write the truth.
But also to have fun. And what amuses me is being really honest without thinking about how I say things; ChatGPT truly helps me, but not today.
In February 2025, I incorporate Texélan (Giving new momentum to textiles).
In May, I start testing on my kitchen table; the basement is filled with textiles sorted by color.
In July, I move into a space in Beauport, stepping up a notch 😊
We're starting to have real prototypes.
MY IDEA WORKS.
March 1, 2026, I open a mini production plant in Saint-Apollinaire in Lotbinière.
On April 1, in tribute to those who didn't believe in me, I hold a launch party.
In April, we work like crazy to transition from our hand processes to a process that uses machines.
In May, I need manpower, I hire 4 part-time people, one full-time person, and 5 full-time interns. (yes, I go all or nothing)
It's progressing fast, it's perfect.
We are working on a massive order for Cirque du Soleil.
But it's going really well.
And then on May 20, 2026, I receive an unplanned visit from a government organization.
7 days later, I can tell you that my planning has just been delayed by over 3 months, and it will cost me tens of thousands of dollars.
So, I had completely forgotten the Design Award.
I hesitated a thousand times on doing it because I know I'm not presenting something perfect.
But at Texélan, imperfection is our form of perfection.
Everything is perfectly imperfect.
Everything is completely unique.
Made in Quebec
With our own textile waste.
The amount of textiles thrown away each week in Quebec is catastrophic.
Yes, we need to buy less, but that's a battle for other people.
I'm tackling the trash,
The garbage bags of textiles in landfills will be deposited by the thousands every week.
I have decided to significantly reduce the amount of textiles sent to landfills.
I found a way to make decorative tiles, acoustic panels, and shelves. Yes, yes. I make very strong wall shelves, just with textiles and a bio-sourced binder we've developed.
Today I show you the 6-inch by 6-inch tiles installed on my bedroom wall.
Honestly, it's the first time I'm so enthralled with my products.
It's just so beautiful.
We have 21 different colors.
Then, we can mix several colors "dry," and it gives us beautiful blends.
But if we mix the wet colors, it gives us completely different patterns.
And that's not all 😊
You can write on our materials.
You can engrave anything.
Cut any shape.
The more complex, the more expensive it is.
But the goal is to have products for all budgets.
In short, I think I've said enough.
I leave you with my best photos!
Best regards,
