Club Cossette
The Advent of the Office Pop-Up
Club Cossette introduces a new typology for post-pandemic office spaces: the "Office Pop-Up."
Ad agency Cossette aimed to create an inviting, flexible space that would act as a social hub and promote their brand during the pandemic, while devising an engaging office conversation piece.
This customization project, located in Cossette’s offices at the 1010 Sainte-Catherine West WeWork, leverages a bold visual statement that echoes the agency’s DNA while stimulating informal collaboration and socializing in this third space. Its design embodies the agency's creative output: bold yet measured, effective, impactful, with a minimalist and intelligent approach—free of unnecessary ornamentation. In the project brief, Cossette proposed a Brasserie analogy as the guiding narrative for the space.
The creative team distilled the essence of the brief, focusing its thematic core. The design features a simple, iconic form inspired by the beer can and the classic 24-pack, also evoking the metallic fermentation silos of artisan breweries. The reflective finish draws from brasserie dining hall mirrors, enhancing the vibrancy of the space. The combination of vertical cylinders and mirrors introduces a playful visual distortion of patrons, magnifying the human presence and activity within.
At the center of the suite, the unexpected presence of a mysterious monolithic object creates a spatial arrangement that generates a ring of subspaces adapted to various uses and collaborative modes. The open-plan layout is subtly structured into program zones: an event plaza upon entry, a dining nook and garden area along the windows for working lunches, a lounge with ottomans to the north, and a “terrace” of sofas in front of the meeting rooms.
With its mirrored surface and programmable colored light pulses, the object exudes a surprisingly dynamic presence, contrasting with its simple, sober geometry. During events, the Club Cossette reveals yet another surprise—concealed sliding doors that open to a hidden interior, acting as a pop-up venue for shows and agency campaigns. This inner room, the functional counterpart to the brewery, is inspired by the iconic "beer fridge." Its interiors are crisp white, highly functional, and equipped with shelving, refrigerators, and perforated panels for hanging objects. This space adopts a retail aesthetic and infuses welcome spectacle into the everyday of the office, functioning as a showcase for unveiling thematic campaigns, product launches, and brand experiences.
Club Cossette is the result of a creative collaboration between the LAAB architecture and their client, Cossette, featuring a collaboration with Signature design communication for industrial design and assembly of the installation.
