Guided by the philosophy of “Extensive Learning, Shared Living, and Harmonious Community,” the project transforms an aging dormitory into a new-generation shared living environment named the Boshuli Living University Garden. The design redefines the dormitory as an integrated space for learning and living—embodying the values of co-learning, co-sharing, co-creation, and mutual growth.
Adopting a student-centered approach, the project integrates living, study, and social functions into a cohesive environment that encourages communication and collaboration. Through spatial renovation, circulation optimization, and landscape renewal, it enhances overall quality and expresses the university’s forward-looking identity.
Facing issues of aging infrastructure, inefficient circulation, and insufficient communal space, the design introduces three key strategies: space optimization, functional reorganization, and landscape enhancement. These interventions transform fragmented and enclosed spaces into an open, inclusive, and interactive campus hub, fostering belonging and a shared sense of community.
The Boshuli Living University Garden goes beyond simple renovation—it is a vision for the future of educational spaces. Rooted in holistic education, the design merges study, life, and leisure into a flexible and inspiring environment. Warm materials, human-scale details, and inviting public areas create a welcoming atmosphere where students naturally connect and grow together.
The project introduces “Learning Boxes” and “Social Platforms,” combining open discussion areas, study corners, and rest lounges to support diverse learning behaviors. Flexible furniture and modular layouts allow adaptability between individual study and group collaboration, encouraging interdisciplinary interaction and creativity.
Natural materials and sustainable strategies enhance comfort and longevity, balancing openness and privacy, movement and contemplation. Each space—from the communal lounge to reading zones—supports intuitive use while conveying warmth and identity.
Ultimately, the Boshuli Living University Garden embodies a harmonious integration of function, community, and vision. It revitalizes the dormitory as a model of contemporary campus living—one that strengthens the university’s character and fosters a culture of shared growth, creativity, and collective learning.
