GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN 19th edition

Discipline : Product
Categories : Furniture / Contract & Institutional Furniture : Gold certification
Typologically, C11 is intended to consciously question the technically historically determined, traditional typology of four-legged chairs and to represent a solitary feature through the strikingly changed proportion AND still appear functional and stackable.
The functionality of the design is expressed in every perspective and every detail of the chair and, on the one hand, indicates that the object has a very objective formal appearance. The displayed proportion, which questions the semantics of four-legged chairs, creates a special visual tension.
In addition, a stacked situation should be able to create a graphic effect of the stacked pack and thus this situation should also be formally “effective”.
Public design is evident in every product, system or environment created for public use! “Public design” in relation to furniture and signs such as park benches, lamps, ... trash cans or street signs ... means that these objects are designed to be easy to use, easy to clean, easy to fix, very reliable and are uncomplicated and overall aesthetically pleasing and provide the intended function sustainably.
In order to define public design, one necessarily has to think about more than just what constitutes “private design”. Changes in our global social and economic structure (transformation) have significant impacts on the way we think about property, privacy and the function of public space today.
Public design therefore encompasses much more than the park benches, street lamps and advertising posters that occupy our common spaces, and can be defined in the broadest sense as any design that supports and facilitates a functioning public today - including work, of course.
With C 11, a number of applications are being considered so that it could have the broadest possible impact on the market.
Of course, the requirement of attractive customization applies to “private design” - living.
The C 11 chair concept is of course part of the wide range of plastic-based outdoor / living / office / public chairs, which also have the design height to be equally at home at an indoor dining table.
In order to be able to generate a self-sufficient unique position in this regard, the draft uses the basic typology - difficult to develop - but very strong in the result, the expression.
At first glance, this can be described as “industrial”, but C 11 offers more. Due to the basic geometry, this chair unexpectedly allows four chairs to be stacked, forming a graphically recognizable “pack” - this also represents a delimiting formal USP in this form.
The product graphic of the structure in particular represented a major formal challenge and is balanced and technically relevant, but also massively different from the abundance of comparable plastic chairs.
C 11 is intended to provide a high-quality and consistent formal representation of what is required and has so far been desired in vain by a broad mass of end customers - a stackable fullshell - a structure - a different chair..
