This sculptural homage is a singular composition that reflects the artist’s deep reverence for the brilliant, fearless architectural vocabulary of Zaha Hadid— where stillness in form suggests movement. The composition unfolds as a landscape of bold ceramic silhouettes, emphasizing asymmetry, tension, and visual lift. Suspended over low-iron glass, the grid becomes an abstract stage for strategy, allowing form to speak before function. About the Designer
Cyrice Griffith, FRSA, creates one-of-one sculptural chess works that blur the line between functional object and collectible art.
Rooted in architecture and assemblage, each piece is composed from reclaimed glass, metal, leather, and salvaged design elements—transformed into layered, tactile environments for play and contemplation. Her works are not replicas, but singular compositions shaped by proportion, material contrast, and narrative memory.
Drawing on a lifelong relationship with the built environment, Griffith approaches each chess set as a spatial study—where strategy unfolds within a sculptural landscape. The result is both refined and unexpected: a playable artwork that commands presence within an interior.
