Edith NORMANDEAU

Madame Edith Normandeau is a senior landscape architect (AAPQ) with 23 years of experience in planning and project management. She holds a master’s degree in planning with a specialization in landscape architecture, a certificate in project management for planning from CNAM in Paris, and a DEA (postgraduate diploma) in architectural and urban atmospheres from the School of Architecture in Grenoble, France.
Having primarily worked in private firms, she specializes in the development of large-scale urban projects and natural environments that require the optimal integration of infrastructure components. She excels in creating distinctive designs that leave a lasting impression, crafting signature projects that foster vibrant and meaningful spaces for communities and users while respecting the “Spirit of the Place” and the natural environment.
Edith Normandeau has been the project director for several large municipal park and green space developments, including Parc de la Pointe-Benson in Lévis, Parc Chauveau and Parc Durocher in Quebec City, the eco-friendly parking lot in Nicolet, Parc Gérard-Perron in Drummondville, and Place François-De Sales-Gervais in Contrecœur, among others. These achievements reflect her cultivated design approach, showcasing her vision for unique designs tailored to each client, the high-quality projects delivered in a multidisciplinary team setting, and her ability to manage complex projects with multiple components.
She has developed expertise in designing green spaces and municipal parks, paying particular attention to site ambiance, viewpoints, seamless circulation, and public engagement with the space. She has contributed to various projects by integrating natural, cultural, and historical elements from a sustainable development perspective, while also promoting motor skill development (for both youth and seniors) and universal accessibility. Experienced in collaborating with engineers, architects, and biologists, she has extensive knowledge of the processes involved in obtaining environmental permits and designing landscapes that require responsible stormwater management through phytotechnologies, as well as the creation of waterfront promenades and floodplain developments.
As a landscape designer (concept, plans and specifications, supervision), Ms. Normandeau demonstrates a deep understanding of the relationship between humans and nature, as well as Vita Loci—"the vitality of places"—by creating environments that respect and enhance local ecosystems. In recent years, she and her collaborators have won several Grands Prix du Design awards for projects such as the Sentier des Grands-Domaines-de-Sillery and Parc Chauveau in Quebec City. She is honored to serve as a jury member for the 2025 edition of the competition.
