How GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN Awards Are Granted
After registration closes, an international jury of more than 120 experts evaluates every entry online. Each GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN entry then goes through four stages: official selection, certification, finalist and winner, followed by the People’s Choice Award and the Awards of the Year.
1. OFFICIAL SELECTION
After registration closes, every entry is checked to confirm that it is complete and meets the eligibility rules. Eligible entries form the OFFICIAL SELECTION of the GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN Awards and are sent to the international jury for evaluation.
2. CERTIFICATIONS
Each project or product is evaluated individually by the jury members assigned to its category, on a scale of 1 to 100 points. GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN certifications are awarded based on the average score obtained:
- 60 to 69: Bronze certification
- 70 to 79: Silver certification
- 80 to 100: Gold certification
Certifications recognize projects that meet or exceed the competition’s standards of excellence. Every certified project receives an official certificate and a lifetime licence to use its certification logo, and is published in the Certifications & Winners section.
3. FINALISTS
Every project or product that receives a Gold certification, with an average score of 80 to 100, automatically becomes a GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN finalist, in the running for the Grand Winner title in its category. There is no separate finalist announcement: Gold certifications, announced online, identify the finalists. At the galas, the finalists of each category are presented on screen before the Grand Winner is unveiled.
4. WINNERS
GRAND WINNER
The GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN Grand Winner title is awarded, in each category, to the project or product with the highest score above 80. Grand Winners are unveiled at the galas, receive a trophy and are published in INT.DESIGN magazine.
PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARD
All eligible entries are submitted to an online public vote. One People’s Choice Award is presented in each discipline, to the project or product that receives the most votes. Winners are revealed at the galas and receive a trophy.
AWARDS OF THE YEAR
Among the Grand Winners of certain disciplines, a committee of jury members selects the projects that particularly stood out during the edition. Each receives an Award of the Year trophy and is featured in INT.DESIGN magazine.
