Kawa & Garo Café is a small neighborhood commerce located in Tétreaultville, at the corner of Hochelaga and Honoré-Beaugrand streets. In this place, the traditions and flavors of Algerian cuisine come together with the ambiance and qualities of a modern café. Along with the simple material palette, the fresh and bright aesthetic of the space highlights the pastries and small dishes that are prepared on site. The geometric patterns of the mosaic adorn the walls and floors and give the space its unique character. The colorful textures are a playful and contemporary reinterpretation of Kabyle craftsmanship, a nod to the owners' origins, while the brass lights are inspired by the shape of the oil lamps of the Maghreb souks. To contrast with the serving area space, the dining area designed for the café's family clientele suggests a warm atmosphere crafted with natural oak benches and tables. The fenestration of the main façade has been maximized letting in natural lighting that floods the carefully designed bar counter. A long, immaculate white service counter unfolds through the space. Aesthetic and functional, the counter has been custom-made to flawlessly integrate different equipment while showcasing the lovingly prepared foods. Despite the current sanitary crisis and shutdowns, this small neighbourhood store has already established itself as a distinguished address in the area.
