YU was designed to capture the approach of Scandinavian design and the poetry of Japanese design. Through its function, it captures our life experiences, and makes them evolve through time. A dialogue is established between the object and the user, which is marked by the imprints left in the material. The pure and discreet forms of the support are the most sober possible in order to give all the place to the emotions which one entrusts to him.
In a world where our living space is getting smaller and smaller, the furniture on sale in most stores is sometimes not adapted to our reality. The selection offered is often limited, which gives few options as to the uniqueness of the furniture. YU is a storage system that responds to this physical constraint, by its size but also its structural minimalism which is not very common. It evolves in many different ways thanks to its vertical tension mounting that allows it to be placed against a wall or between two rooms as a space organizer.
YU represents the YOU, which echoes each user's sensitivity to its function. The collection encompasses simple forms, materials and production processes. Great attention has been paid to the economy of materials, without losing the quality of the product or its efficiency. In order to achieve a purity of line and gesture, all assemblies that could hinder the harmony of the object have been concealed.
The bookcase has a width of 1260 mm, a depth of 180 mm and its height can vary from 2300 to 2550 mm according to the needs. It offers five shelves in its original form, but its stable construction can be easily extended horizontally or vertically in various configurations. The body is made entirely of solid maple from Canada's sustainable forests. The top and bottom mounting brackets are made of aluminum. It is made using traditional woodworking techniques and a hand-applied organic vegetable oil finish, offering an exceptional quality finish. It is durable and can be completely assembled and disassembled at will.
