The Grand Canal of China is an important world cultural heritage. Building the Grand Canal Cultural Belt is a major decision and deployment made by the Party Central Committee and the State Council in the new era. The China Grand Canal Museum is a key project in the construction of the Grand Canal Cultural Belt and the Grand Canal National Cultural Park.
Born out of luck – The Street Impression Exhibition Hall of the Grand Canal features exhibitions to select typical settlement spaces along the canal, reproduce historical scenes, showcase the material and intangible cultures of the canal in different periods and regions, and reflect the good life of the people along the canal. Through a spatial span spanning north and south, spanning thousands of years of time dimension, and a story perspective with a rich collection of human resources, the beautiful life along the canal is displayed through the reproduction of urban historical landscapes, creating a three-dimensional urban picture scroll.
The exhibition hall covers an area of 3200 square meters and is divided into four units. In the prosperous era, typical architectural forms were selected from the Sui Tang Grand Canal section, Luoyang, Kaifeng, and other places to reflect the urban landscape along the canal during the Tang and Song dynasties. In the prosperous era, the northern streets and residential life of the Beijing-Hangzhou Canal section, Beijing, Shandong, and other places were selected to reflect the urban landscape during the Ming and Qing dynasties, (Water transportation) mainly displays the commercial trade of Yangzhou in the middle section of the Beijing-Hangzhou Canal and the transportation hub features of Huai’an connecting to the north and south. Finally (Humanities) mainly displays the urban landscape represented by Suzhou and Hangzhou along the southern section of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal and the eastern Zhejiang Canal.
