Within the Tour Belvedere of the Voltige real estate project in Montréal, luxury was injected into two otherwise unremarkable common spaces. The transformation of the first area was led by the desire to create an urban chalet to inspire dynamism and conviviality amongst the tenants. It includes an impressive shared kitchen, sizeable dining table, and co-working area, all adjacent to a large terrace and pool. It is a chic and functional space for tenants to gather, share, relax and have fun. To further highlight the urban chalet theme, a neutral pallet was enhanced by nature inspired accent colours such as green and gold, all culminating in an impressive centrepiece – a stunning, lush tree that literally brings the outside in.
In addition to the urban chalet, a second space was transformed into a first-rate communal
gym. Form, colour and mirrors were used to define areas throughout the space, to convey a sense of movement and transformation, and to direct the eye around the room. The materials used were well researched to ensure that their technical aspects were appropriate for the project. Practical considerations and creativity combined to design a functional yet stimulating communal gym.
These transformations demonstrate that it is possible to create an upscale common space that becomes the nucleus for the community, encourages interaction and connections, and feels extraordinary.
