GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN – 17th edition

Discipline : Interior Design : People’s Choice Award

TREMBLANT RESIDENCE

Location: Tremblant, Quebec
Year: 2023
Mandate: New construction
Area:6,692 ft2

Tremblant, renowned as a haven for all attractions and a paradise for outdoor lovers, has now become the backdrop for an extraordinary family retreat. After a prolonged search for the perfect sanctuary to immerse themselves in the great outdoors, this family stumbled upon a spectacular parcel of land. Secluded and embraced by nature, it represented the ultimate game-changer.

Overflowing with enthusiasm for their newfound paradise, the owners temporarily settled into a caravan with a picnic setup amidst the construction site. This setup fulfilled their dream of savoring morning coffees while observing the craftsmanship of skilled artisans bringing their vision to life. Instantly, they transformed the area into a warm, inviting space open to everyone.

The architectural vision for this secondary residence was intricately crafted with family bonding and friendship at its core. Each area of the home was meticulously designed for specific uses, ensuring a seamless blend of functionality and comfort for its inhabitants. Spaces for personal retreat offer solitude, while a dedicated workspace ensures professional activities can be conducted in tranquility. The chalet features distinct wings for the master suite and another exclusively for children and grandchildren, fostering family togetherness. A hidden gem, a speakeasy, lies concealed behind a fur coat-filled closet. The effortlessly maintained polished concrete flooring, coupled with the deep green gypsum walls and luxurious velvet curtains, creates an intimate and inviting atmosphere, ideal for a discreet après-ski retreat.

The residence’s design ethos celebrates timelessness and a flawless harmony with its natural surroundings. The selection of exterior materials draws inspiration from European elegance, infusing the structure with a layer of sophistication. This blend of traditional masonry within a modern context strikes a compelling, forward-thinking contrast. A collaboration with Lambert & Fils brought to life bespoke lighting fixtures for the open living area, adding a touch of customized brilliance.

Upon entry, the cathedral ceiling, adorned with textured double wooden beams painted in crisp white, immediately catches the eye, setting a distinguished tone. This design choice, alongside wooden windows, a staircase with a sleek painted steel balustrade, and seamless streaked glass partitions, enriches the home with bespoke details. Custom-designed interior wooden doors for the hosts further personalize and elevate the residence.

Undoubtedly, this chalet is poised to become a cherished legacy for generations to come, encapsulating the essence of luxury, family, and the great outdoors.
